Mass murderer Devin Patrick Kelley was once charged with punching a puppy.
The gunman responsible for killing 26 and injuring 20 more when he opened fire inside a Texas church Sunday was charged with animal cruelty while he lived in a Colorado trailer park in 2014.
A witness who called cops said that Kelley pounced on the young animal and “began punching the dog with a closed fist near the head and neck area,” Fox31 Denver reported, citing court records.
The pup was “yelping and whining” while Kelley hit four or five times — then he “grabbed the dog by the neck and drug him away,” the records state.
Kelley denied the account, but El Paso County Sheriff’s charged him with a misdemeanor and issued him a summons to appear in court. He was ultimately ordered to pay a $368 in restitution, $78 to the victim’s assistance fund and a $2.50 genetic testing surcharge.
The case was dismissed when he paid his dues, the Fox affiliate reported.
