A 14-year-old boy said he was sexually assaulted by a group of upperclassmen inside the locker room of a Brooklyn public school – and its principal has been ousted because of the school’s failure to report the attack, police sources said Thursday.
The 9th grader was chased by the 10th grade bullies – who have harassed the boy in the past – into the locker room at It Takes a Village Academy in East Flatbush last Friday, the victim told investigators, according to sources.
The attackers then allegedly pinned the boy up against the wall and tried to molest him with their fingers, the sources said.
Sources say the victim’s mom told cops that the boy alerted school officials of the incident on Friday, but police were only notified on Monday at 1 p.m. by the mother after she found out that no police report had been made.
No arrests have been made yet and sources say there may be up to five more victims.
Meanwhile, the school’s principal, Marina Vinitskaya, has been reassigned pending the outcome of the investigation into the matter, school sources said.
“Safety always comes first and these deeply troubling allegations are being investigated,” Department of Education spokeswoman Miranda Barbot said in a statement. “We are working in close partnership with the NYPD to ensure appropriate action is taken and are providing the school with ongoing support.”
