President Trump’s top foreign policy adviser, Stephen Miller, has reportedly been interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Miller, the highest-level administration officials to speak with investigators, talked about his role in the firing of FBI director James Comey among other matters, according to CNN.
Mueller is looking into possible obstruction of justice charges in connection with Comey’s firing, sources told the network.
Stephen Miller helped Trump pen a memo in May that explained why the president had wanted to fire Comey, according to The New York Times.
That letter was scrapped over legal concerns.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein penned a similar letter days later that attempted to justify Comey’s firing.
But Trump told NBC in May, “In fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won.’”
