A man was arrested for murder Tuesday after evading police for eight months — then died of cancer just hours later.
Albany cops busted Taron Robinson, 30, Tuesday afternoon and charged him with second-degree murder for the slaying of 27-year-old Christopher Hardy in April, the Times-Union reports.
Ten hours later, Robinson passed away.
“I’m sure there will be an autopsy but he was dying of cancer and was in extremely bad shape,” Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple told the paper.
Robinson, an enforcer in the Jungle Junkies street gang, had previously been in prison for selling crack, but was released on parole early in 2016 because he had terminal cancer, according to the paper.
He allegedly shot Hardy twice while the victim was sitting in his car, then cut off an electronic monitoring bracelet from his ankle and went on the lam, the Times-Union previously reported.
Robinson was the nephew of an Albany city councilman — while Hardy was the biological brother of Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan’s adopted son.
