From an amateur MMA event in Wolverhampton, England, we give you Exhibit A on why no one should ever make the decision to pursue a mixed martial arts career lightly.
Poland’s Samuel Ilnicki and England’s Solomon Rogers both had dreams of MMA stardom as they made their debuts in a welterweight contest at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions: Fight Night 7 earlier this month.
But less than three minutes into the opening round of their early-card contest, Ilnicki delivered a harsh dose of reality to his opponent with one of the most soul-destroying knockouts you’ll ever see.
Looking like he was loading up on an overhand right, Ilnicki got Rogers to bite as he ducked low to the left.
But the real blow was only a moment away, as Ilnicki connected with a teeth-shattering right head kick that immediately turned Rogers’ lights off.
The beaten man fell face-first to the canvas, frightening everyone in attendance, including Ilnicki, who didn’t even celebrate and immediately started praying for his opponent’s health.
A slow-motion replay of the contact shows something white flying out of Rogers’ mouth. For his sake, we hope it was just a chunk of spit — and not one of his teeth.
Ain’t that a kick in the head.
