The rear of an MTA bus burst into flames in The Bronx on Monday morning, police said.
The BX1 bus caught fire near the corner of East 156th Street and Grand Concourse in Concourse Village around 6:45 a.m. An MTA spokesman said the driver noticed smoke coming from the rear of the bus and stopped to let all seven passengers off. No one was injured.
The FDNY arrived and extinguished the flames, which originated in the engine compartment at the rear of the bus, officials said.
