An Ohio substitute teacher who was kicked out of school over student-sex allegations plans to plead not guilty to sexual battery by reason of insanity.
Madeline Marx, 23, appeared in court Wednesday following claims of sexual misconduct while employed as a teacher at Kettering Fairmont High School, the Dayton Daily News reported.
The teacher, who was sobbing before the hearing, was arrested in November for allegedly having sex off-campus with two 11th-grade students.
Marx confessed to the incidents and admitted to police that she also sent several nude photos to one of the teens through Snapchat and Instagram.
Kettering police interviewed both teens, who said the illicit encounters occurred in local parking lots.
One victim, 17, told investigators that Marx gave him oral sex July 19, and the other, a 16-year-old, said he had sex with her Sept. 21.
Marx’s lawyer, Keith Fricker, announced Wednesday that he plans to submit motions to determine her competency and fitness.
If convicted, she could face up to three years in prison, the Dayton Daily News reported.
