An NYPD traffic agent who downed eight shots of vodka before hopping behind the wheel of his car — and killing a friend celebrating her 21st birthday — pleaded guilty in the horrific crash Tuesday.
Stefan Hoyte, 26, dodged a possible 15-year prison sentence by copping to charges of second-degree manslaughter for the crash that killed passenger and pal Amanda Miner.
He now faces four to 12 years behind bars when sentenced in January.
Hoyte was gunning it 111 mph over the Williamsburg Bridge, where the speed limit is 33 mph, when he lost control of his 2013 Infinity G37 and slammed into one of the span’s support beams.
He had a blood-alcohol level of .12 — well over the legal limit of .08 — after downing the slew of shots along with two mixed drinks at a bar about three hours before the crash.
The off-duty agent had been driving Miner and her boyfriend home from the bar when they crashed. Miner was ejected from the back seat of the car on impact, her body torn in two in the process.
“This horrific crash in March was one that stood out to many seasoned collision investigators and first-responders as one of the worst they had ever encountered,” said Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance.
“Stefan Hoyte sped across the Williamsburg Bridge at more than three times the legal limit and rammed into a pillar on the side of the road, violently ending the life of his young passenger.”
