Sunday
Rams (+2¹/₂) over SEAHAWKS: It’s a little salty to go aggressively against Seattle off a defeat — especially since a loss in this matchup will wound the Seahawks’ postseason prospects to a considerable extent. But we figured the Jaguars (who have lost to these Rams) would subdue the ’Hawks last Sunday on the strength of their defensive front, and believe these Rams can make the best of this with their healthier receiving corps against hosts’ now-eroded secondary. If this is the tail end for this Seahawk run, it’s been a good one. Rams carry on, for one unit.
49ERS (-2) over Titans: Here’s another changing-of-the-guard call, based in large part on Marcus Mariota’s deteriorating mobility, which meaningfully hinders the key to his optimum effectiveness. The Niners are most pleased with their recent success with Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm. Clearly, those years in New England watching Tom Brady do his thing were an education. Take the Niners to keep up the good work against the Titans, given Tennessee’s current state, for one unit.
Last week: 1-1. Ravens (W). Giants (L).
Season: 15-16.
