A Grinch swiped a tiny dog from a New Jersey animal shelter on Christmas Eve, right before he was going to be adopted, officials said.
Tub Tub, a nine-year-old male Pomeranian, was carried off from the Monmouth County SPCA shelter in Eatontown at around 12:30 p.m., according to a post on their Facebook page.
“His microchip has been reported stolen and we are checking our cameras and doing everything else we can to track this boy down,” the post read.
The animal facility is swamped before the holidays, with families looking to adopt new pets, so staff didn’t realize the tawny pup was gone until his adoptive owner stopped by to pick him up, the Asbury Park Press reported.
“It’s really sad on Christmas Eve that we have to experience it,” said Ross Licitra,SPCA’s Chief Executive Director.
Licitra asked that anyone with information about the stolen Pom call Eatontown police at 732-542-0100.
