No one is more excited about the Eagles punching their ticket to Super Bowl LII than Zach Ertz’s wife.
After Philadelphia destroyed the Minnesota Vikings 38-7 in Sunday’s NFC Championship game, Julie Ertz, a member of the US Women’s National Team, shed tears of joy upon learning the Eagles’ fate, following her team’s 5-1 thrashing of Denmark.
“I’m so excited for them, unbelievably excited,” Julie, 25, told ESPN, adding she and her tight end spouse had been texting back and forth up until their respective game times. And while Julie tried not to look at the Eagles’ score, the grins on a few faces at halftime assured her “they knew something.”
Zach Ertz, 27, who had eight receptions for 93 yards, was overcome with emotion watching his soccer-star spouse’s reaction.
“Oh man, that’s emotional for me,” Ertz said, via 97.5 The Fanatic’s Geoff Mosher. “I wish she was here, obviously. It’s tough not having her here, but I can’t wait for her to get home and celebrate with me.”
After the Stanford alum popped the question at Stanford in February 2016, he and Julie wed the following March.
This will be the Ertzs’ first trip to the Super Bowl.
