Conor McGregor is in negotiations for his next fight and admitted he would love to take on Floyd Mayweather in a UFC bout.
The Irish champ hasn’t set foot in the Octagon since he beat Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight championship in November 2016.
The win over Alvarez saw McGregor become the first fighter to hold two titles in different weight divisions at the same time. McGregor earned the flyweight title after beating Jose Aldo in December 2015.
McGregor, 29, did try his hand at boxing in a mega-money bout against Mayweather last year but said he is ready to return to his roots.
It comes after Mayweather dropped his biggest hint yet that he could make a sensational move into the UFC.
And while The Notorious confirmed he’d love a Mayweather rematch, he admitted there are “multiple opponents” in the offering.
Speaking at an event to honor his work with the New York’s Children Medical Research Foundation, he said: “I’m currently in the negotiation stage. There are multiple opponents on the platform.
“Of course I would love to get that one [against Mayweather] back. I felt I went into his realm and I felt handy early on, he had to wait for me to get tired.”
Meanwhile, Mayweather uploaded a couple of clips onto social media of himself bounding into the Octagon in a hint that he is in training for a move into MMA.

McGregor, not one to keep his thoughts to himself, responded: “Hahahaha very good. Keep up the good work my son. Yours sincerely, Senior.”
He also posted a picture with his baby son on Twitter with the caption, “F–k the Mayweathers.”
