Police in Florida sacked a pair of Eagles fans who were so intent on watching the Super Bowl that they left their young son outside a bar alone for about two hours, according to a report.
Flagler County sheriff’s deputies arrested Robert Valenti, 42, and his wife Kristal, 38, on Sunday night after football fans inside the Beer House in Bunnell said their 6-year-old son was left to wander around outside unsupervised, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.
When confronted, Kristal described the game between the Eagles and the New England Patriots as a “very big event” — and cheerfully trying to fist bump cops as she told them how much she wanted her team to win.
She told officers the bar didn’t allow underage patrons after 6 p.m. so she and her husband left their son in their truck so they could catch the game with friends.
Kristal said she went out to periodically check on the boy but officers determined there were still large gaps of time in which he was unattended.
The couple was charged with child neglect.
