Golf streaker says it ‘was worth it’ for the laughs

A boozed-up man who went streaking on the green ahead of the Phoenix Open golf tournament says the in-the-buff stunt “was worth it” because he made people laugh, according to a report.

Adam Stalmach, 24, was arrested Wednesday on charges of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct after stripping down to his birthday suit and running around the 17th hole during a practice round before the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Stalmach received a standing ovation for the nearly five-minute naked spectacle that ended with him being hauled off the course by security.

“Me and my buddy were talking about somebody streaking throughout the day and we figured, if you want something done right, do it yourself,” Stalmach told AZFamily.com in an interview Monday after spending five days in jail for the act.

“As long as somebody laughed and got a kick out of it, that’s why I did it.”

Stalmach, who also faces $1,500 in fines, said of his time behind bars: “It sucked. Jail is not fun. It’s not a good idea.”

The prankster told the news outlet that he had at least eight alcoholic drinks within an hour before running across the golf course – and he said the liquid courage gave him the boost he needed.

“The alcohol helped. I definitely wouldn’t have done it if I was sober,” said Stalmach, who lost his job as a bartender following the incident.

The young man appears to have learned his lesson, telling the news outlet: “I definitely wouldn’t do it again.”

“I do want to apologize to anyone I did offend,” Stalmach said.
