Villanova hoops icon’s son busted in Super Bowl car flip

The Flip-adelphia suspects are beginning to get caught.

Police arrested the son of Villanova broadcasting legend Whitey Rigsby for allegedly helping overturn a car during Sunday’s post-Super Bowl celebration, as Philadelphians laid waste to their own city.

Twenty-year-old John Rigsby, a resident of Malvern, Pa., was arrested Wednesday and charged with rioting, conspiracy, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person for allegedly helping flip a Nissan Rogue SUV. Police said he is one of seven suspects who caused dents and scratches to the capsized vehicle, a victim of the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII victory. Rigsby was released on $2,500 bail.

Whitey Rigsby, who played at Villanova from 1974 to 1978, has been the radio color analyst of the Wildcats since 1980. Rigsby was the first recruit of legendary coach Rollie Massimino in 1974, he told the Inquirer, and in addition to being the voice of Villanova, he is the university’s director of development for athletics.
