A ninth-grader says he came face-to-face with suspected killer Nikolas Cruz — and was miraculously spared from bloodshed.
Chris McKenna, 15, was on his way to a second-floor bathroom at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, Florida, when he came upon Cruz just before he started his massacre Wednesday, the freshman told the Sun-Sentinel newspaper.
The killer told him to scram.
“`You better get out of here,’ ” McKenna quoted Cruz telling him. ” `Things are gonna start getting messy.'”
McKenna said he momentarily froze before taking Cruz’s advice to flee.
Cruz is accused of killing 14 students and three adults at the Florida high school on Wednesday afternoon.
