President Trump took to Twitter Friday to claim that the indictment of 13 Russians charged with interfering with the presidential election in his favor actually vindicated him.
“Russia started their anti-US campaign in 2014, long before I announced that I would run for President. The results of the election were not impacted. The Trump campaign did nothing wrong – no collusion!” the president tweeted en route to his Mar-a-Lago resort at 3:18 p.m.
Trump added in a statement that “far-fetched theories” about collusion in the 2016 election “only serve to further the agendas of bad actors, like Russia.”
“It’s time we stop the outlandish partisan attacks. We must unite as Americans to protect the integrity of our democracy and our elections,” he added.
The feds said nothing in the indictment released Friday alleged that the meddling changed the outcome of the election — but stressed that special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe was ongoing.
