Milan fashion week has been invaded by very chic aliens.
First came Gucci’s “Cyborg Manifesto” show, which, according to its press release, wanted to channel “a paradoxical creature keeping together . . . normal and alien.” In a venue that channeled an operating room, models walked the runway in eerie face masks, toting replicas of their own severed heads. Otherworldly, indeed.
Next, at Moschino, designer Jeremy Scott imagined glamorous aliens — that just so happened to look like Jackie O. Posers were painted from head to toe in electric shades of blue, pink and yellow.
And Italian brand Hogan shot for the stars, too, with its “Galaxy Love” collection. Its signature sneaker styles got a moonwalk-worthy makeover with lots of glitter, sparkles and iridescent treatments.
Seems being haute on Earth just isn’t enough for designers these days.
