President Trump’s re-election campaign is using a photo of him meeting with a student survivor of the mass school shooting in Florida to raise money, according to a report.
An email sent to supporters Saturday shows the president and first lady at the bedside of Madeleine Wilford, 17, along with members of her family, CNN reported Sunday.
Trump visited Wilford at the hospital on Feb. 16, two days after a gunman with an AR-15 assault rifle killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
“The nation has turned its attention to the senseless school shooting in Parkland, Florida,” the email reads, CNN reported. “Trump is taking steps toward banning gun bump stocks and strengthening background checks for gun purchasers .”
“The President has made his intent very clear: ‘making our schools and our children safer will be our top priority,'” it concluded.
The email also contained a link to the campaign’s donations page.
The re-election campaign did not return CNN’s requests for comment.
