A suspected drunk driver rear-ended a milk truck in Harlem early Tuesday morning, killing one person, police said.
The black Mercedes Benz was traveling north on Frederick Douglass Boulevard when the 33-year-old female driver slammed into the back of a truck that was double-parked near West 129th Street around 4:30 a.m.
The truck driver was making a delivery inside a nearby storefront at the time of the crash, police said. The car then spun out of control and smashed into a tree, dramatic photographs show.
The driver and her 35-year-old male passenger were rushed to Harlem Hospital Center, where the passenger died soon after.
The woman, who is in stable condition, is suspected to have been drunk at the time of the accident and is under arrest with charges pending, police said.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending family notification.
