Unlucky commuters were forced to bed down on the steps of Grand Central Station early Thursday, stranded in the city after Winter Storm Quinn snarled area rail lines.
“I’m stuck here and I’m not very happy,” groused Christina Ramos, of New Haven, Conn. “It’s not like you can just book a last-minute hotel in New York City because they’re overpriced, so I’m stuck sleeping on the floor.”
Ramos, 28, said she made the trek into the city for work Wednesday morning, only to be let out early and find she was stuck.
“I just want them to tell me or give me any kind of information,” she said. “I’m tired and I just want to go home.”
Metro-North service was hardest hit, with service suspended on three lines from Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday.
The Harlem, New Haven, and Hudson Metro North lines were shut down due to fallen trees blocking the tracks, signal power problems, and other unspecified “weather-related infrastructure issues,” according to the MTA. By early Thursday, they were still down.
