The New York State Funeral Directors Association plans to sue the state Health Department next week to block it from forcing 94 morticians to retake their national board exams in order to keep their licenses, The Post has learned.
The 94 are among 300 licensees in several states who had their passing scores invalidated due to a cheating scandal at Manhattan’s American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service.
All are accused of sharing e-mails with information about questions on the exams.
Mike Lanotte, head of the funeral directors’ group, said that under state law, officials cannot deny a license renewal without a hearing.
