FBI lovebirds might be getting busy in other ways, too

Are Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — those cheatin’ FBI lovebirds — cooperating with investigators looking into the Bureau’s handling of Hillary Clinton’ emails?

Last week I put a little blurb in my column wondering why the two hadn’t been fired yet even though their own emails suggest they were clearly conspiring against the Trump campaign. I also added new information from a reliable source who says the two hadn’t even lost their security clearance — which is unheard of, I’m told, even when FBI agents are caught having extramarital affairs.

Well, that piece caused a healthy amount of speculation from readers on why Strzok and Page are still FBI’ing.

The only logical conclusion, according to a number of my readers, is that the two must be cooperating in an investigation against FBI higher-ups like James Comey and Andrew McCabe, the two top FBI guys during the investigation.

“The reason why the lovebirds haven’t been fired is because they have been granted immunity at some level or another because they have agreed to cooperate in the (Justice Department’s) Inspector General’s investigation into the corruption within the leadership of the DOJ/FBI leading up to and immediately following the 2016 election,” speculated one of my readers.

“As long as they cooperate, they keep a job and all benefits/pensions associated with it. I would think that’s a strong incentive to cooperate with the investigators, no?”

Yes, that actually makes lots of sense.

Wall Street, of course, has a lot on its mind nowadays. President Trump has a way of giving investors a case of attention deficit disorder as we go from crisis to crisis. But the FBI and Justice Department scandals will be moving the financial markets before long because the Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, is due to issue his report shortly.

Comey’s book “A Higher Royalty” (uh, Loyalty) is also due out in a week. And McCabe has a GoFundMe page to pay for expected legal costs. If the speculation that Strzok and Page are cooperating proves to be correct, both Comey and McCabe are going to need all the money they can get.

As for Strzok and Page: They’d better watch their backs.

I hope all of them enjoy their spring.
