Milwaukee TV reporter Adair “AJ” Bayatpour was arrested on charges of substantial battery Friday following a personal conflict at a Brewers game, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The alleged incident transpired after Bayatpour, 31, employed by Fox affiliate WITI-TV, had been “ridiculing” Madeline Anderson, a female co-worker, per the police report. Anderson’s boyfriend, Ben Jordan, is said to have defended her. The exchange led to Bayatpour striking Jordan, a reporter for NBC’s WTMJ-TV, causing “a significant injury.”
“FOX 6 Reporter AJ Bayatpour was involved in an altercation at Miller Park last week,” a spokeswoman for Tribune Broadcasting said in a statement. “We can confirm he will not be reporting for the station while the incident is under investigation.”
Bayatpour has been part of the Fox 6 team since Valentine’s Day 2012. His bio is intact on the station’s page.
The altercation between reporters caught the most attention last weekend following the Brewers’ 5-4 win over the Cubs. But in addition to 11 ejections, it appears five citations were issued, “a typical Chicago Cubs busy night,” per the police report, via FTVLive.
