The widow of the Gov. Andrew Cuomo aide killed by a stray bullet at a Brooklyn parade is pregnant with the man’s child — three years after he died.
A visibly pregnant Trenelle Gabay was in Brooklyn court Wednesday as pretrial hearings kicked off in the murder trials of five people who allegedly participated in the 2015 gunfight that fatally injured her husband, Carey Gabay.
She is seven months pregnant with their son and used sperm that doctors harvested from Carey before he died, according to CBS News.
“That is Carey’s profile,” she told the outlet, pointing to an ultrasound of the baby. “Definitely his mouth and his jawline and it’s just God’s miracle.”
She plans to name the child Carey after his father.
Trenelle said she “didn’t plan on being a single mom. But here I am and I just can’t wait to meet this little guy.”
She said “it will be a proud moment” when she takes the child to the Clinton Hill block renamed for Carey.
Her husband was a lawyer for Cuomo’s Empire State Development.
Carey was attending the pre-dawn West Indian Day Parade festival known as J’ouvert on Sept. 7, 2015, when a gang fight broke out at 3:40 a.m. and he was struck in the head by a stray bullet.
He later died after being taken off life support.
