The superhero most likely to die in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Word on the street — and on social media — indicates that not every superhero will survive “Avengers: Infinity War.” When The Post asked screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus who’s going to die, McFeely pretended not to hear the question, and Markus replied dryly, “We are all going to die eventually.”

Here, then, are our best educated guesses at how much danger some of the key characters face.

Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) Black Panther just got his first solo movie in February, and it's made more than $675 million domestically, recently passing "Titanic" to become the third-highest-grossing movie of all time at the US box office. He's not going anywhere. Odds of dying: 100/1 AP
Spider-Man (Tom Holland) The Disney-owned Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony Pictures currently share the rights to Spider-Man. With hundreds of millions at stake, Sony's not going to let its biggest name in the superhero pantheon disappear. Odds of dying: 95/1 Columbia Pictures/courtesy Everett Collection

Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn has said a third film is coming in 2020, and it's hard to imagine that happening without the space gang's biggest audience draw. Odds of dying: 90/1 Film Frame

Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) The character is one of the most recent additions to the MCU, so he should be sticking around. Still, it's a little suspect that no sequel to his 2016 movie has been announced. Odds of dying: 40/1 Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures /Courtesy Everett Collection

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) Hemsworth's Marvel contract is up, but in January he said he'd been "throwing ideas" around with his "Thor: Ragnarok" director about a fourth Thor film. This could go either way. Odds of dying: 20/1Jay Maidment/Marvel
Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) The arrow-wielder has been missing from the marketing for "Infinity War." That could mean he's not long for this world, or it could mean he's being saved for a bigger role in a sequel next year. Odds of dying: 20/1 Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures/courtesy Everett Collection
Loki (Tom Hiddleston) Thor's brother has flipped from bad to good and back again so many times, one can't help but wonder what is left for him to do. Plus, he has one of the infinity stones that Thanos wants, and he looked awfully scared in the first trailer. Odds of dying: 10/1 Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures /Courtesy Everett Collection

Vision (Paul Bettany) One of the infinity stones Thanos is searching for happens to be planted in Vision's forehead. That doesn't bode well for his future. Odds of dying: 5/1 Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures/courtesy Everett Collection
Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) Of the entire cast, Downey's been doing this the longest -- since 2008's "Iron Man." He's also said he wants to "hang up [his] jersey before it's embarrassing." Odds of dying: 3/1 Film Frame
Captain America (Chris Evans) Of potentially leaving the franchise, Evans has said, "You want to get off the train before they push you off," and indicated that, as his original six-film contract is up, the two "Avengers" films will be his last. He's the safest bet ... to not be safe. Odds of dying: 2/1Jay Maidment/Marvel
