Wife in murder-suicide solicited marriage advice before killing other woman

The Delaware wife who allegedly killed a woman romantically involved with her husband solicited marriage advice in an online forum, according to reports.

Jennair Gerardot, 48, reportedly suggested online that her marriage was on the rocks before she killed 33-year-old Meredith Chapman in a murder-suicide Monday at a house in Radnor, Pennsylvania, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

“Please recommend an EXCELLENT marriage counselor for couple on brink of divorce,” Gerardot posted in one forum.

Radnor Township Police said Gerardot broke into Chapman’s home and fatally shot the woman around 7 p.m. when she walked in the door. The spurned wife then allegedly turned the gun on herself in the kitchen — just steps away from Chapman’s body, according to officials.

“[Gerardot] went to great lengths to disguise herself,” Police Superintendent William Colarulo said. “She wore a wig… She broke into the victim’s house, and cleaned up the glass so the victim didn’t realize someone was in her home.”

The wife was reportedly upset that Chapman was having an affair with her husband, Mark, and meticulously planned the ambush, police said.

Chapman, who was recently separated, previously worked with the alleged shooter’s spouse at the University of Delaware before taking a position at Villanova University, according to the newspaper.

In the months leading up to the brutal slaying, Gerardot wrote posts on the app NextDoor that suggested she was in a turbulent marriage.

“I just transferred to Delaware in December for my Husband’s new job, and he’s telling me he wants a divorce,” Gerardot wrote in February on the app. “I don’t know anyone and am completely clueless to the area.”

Gerardot’s husband was reportedly outside when authorities arrived at the scene of the crime Monday. He told police that his wife may be inside the home.

“There were emails and text messages indicating what [Gerardot] might do,” Colarulo told news station WCAU.
