Former White House doctor Ronny Jackson has been accused of medical misconduct by Vice President Mike Pence’s physician, a report said Monday.
Pence’s doctor wrote the White House a memo last fall that accused Jackson of “inappropriately intervening in a medical situation involving the second lady” Karen Pence, according to CNN.
Jackson, who withdrew from consideration as secretary of Veterans Affairs last week, had overstepped his authority and potentially “violated federal privacy rights” when he interfered in the second lady’s medical situation, according to the memos obtained by CNN.
The incident took place in September of 2017 when Karen Pence suffered a “medical situation” at Camp David and needed to be transported to Walter Reed Medical Center, the network said.
Jackson allegedly interfered in the situation which led to “an inadvertent disclosure of SLOTUS’ medical information in a situation where ultimate discretion was of utmost importance,” the memos said.
The second lady herself “expressed concerns over the potential breach of privacy of her medical condition.”
Jackson, according to the memos, claimed the medical issues were “presidential assets” and told the vice president’s doctor to “let the issue go.”
Both White House chief of staff John Kelly and deputy chief of staff Joe Hagin were informed of the incident and it was referred to “military channels.”
In response, the White House on Monday characterized the episode as “simply a dispute between two doctors.”
Despite repeated accusations about Jackson’s performance in the White House, Trump has defended his former physician.
