A disgraced lawyer – who once repped Casey Anthony – was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday for conspiring to fly more than 3,000 pounds of coke on his private jet from Ecuador to Honduras.
Todd Macaluso, 55, agreed to pilot $10 million worth of cocaine on his Falcon 10 airplane for an international drug cartel in exchange for $200,000.
The drugs would have been sold to Mexican drug traffickers to ultimately land in the US, but Macaluso was arrested in November 2016 before the flight took off.
The San Diego man was convicted by a jury last November of international cocaine distribution conspiracy.
“Today’s sentence puts international drug traffickers and their associates on notice that we will bring the full weight of the law to bear on those that play any role in bringing dangerous drugs into our communities,” Brooklyn US Attorney Richard Donoghue said in a prepared statement.
