On what would have been his 60th birthday, Prince has given the world a gift.
This morning, his estate and Warner Bros. announced plans to release a recording from 1983 called “Piano & A Microphone: 1983.”
Out Sept. 21, the album was recorded during a rehearsal in Prince’s home studio in Chanhassen, Minn.
The track listing features stripped-down versions of “Purple Rain,” a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” and “Mary Don’t You Weep,” which will be featured in Spike Lee’s upcoming film “BlacKkKlansman.”
