The suspect in the shooting of an NYPD detective during a gun battle Friday morning can be seen unconscious and handcuffed to a hospital bed in this exclusive photo obtained by The Post.
Career criminal Kelvin Stichel, 33, is accused of opening fire on two cops from the Brooklyn North Warrants Squad who spotted him walking in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 6:40 a.m.
One of the cops — Detective Miguel Soto, 32 — was shot in the upper right thigh, while Stichel was hit in the right forearm when Soto and his partner returned fire, police said.
Stichel ran away but was busted by cops who followed a trail of blood from the scene on Decatur Street, police said.
He was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was awaiting treatment in the major trauma section of the emergency room when the photo was snapped.
Soto was treated at Kings County Hospital and was awaiting release, law enforcement sources said.
Stichel was wanted in the domestic-violence armed robbery of his wife, NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill said.
