Elderly man asks God to forgive woman who bashed him with brick

The elderly Hispanic man who was bashed with a brick by a woman who reportedly told him “go back to your country” doesn’t resent his attacker, according to a report.

“May God forgive her for what she did to me,” Rodolfo Rodriguez told KABC on Wednesday, while convalescing in his daughter’s Los Angeles home.

The 92-year-old Mexico native had gone out for a walk on July 4 near his home when he bumped into a little girl as he tried to pass her and her mom, according to his family.

“I just passed her and she pushed me and she hit me until she was done,” he told CNN.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested Laquisha Jones, 30, on Tuesday evening for her role in the beatdown, which left Rodriguez with broken ribs, a battered face and bruises all over his body.

“She hurt me but I cannot be an enemy and say I condemn her,” Rodriguez said.

Neighbor Misbel Borjas, who witnessed the attack from her car and was able to snap a picture, said the woman yelled “Go back to your country!” or “Go back to Mexico!” at Rodriguez.

Deputies on Wednesday said they determined the attack was not “a hate-related incident,” without elaborating.

A group of three or four men also ran up and participated in the beating, Borjas said — and authorities are investigating their potential role in the assault.

Rodriguez, who is a legal US resident, said he doesn’t harbor any ill will toward Jones and just wants the law to take its course.

He said he is grateful for the support he’s received from the community.

A GoFundMe, with a goal of $15,000, was set up to pay for his medical treatment on July 6 and had raised $305,790 by Thursday.
