Suspect in Bronx teen’s killing threw urine at Rikers jail guard

Two suspects in the slaying of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman waged war on correction officers in Rikers Island this week — with one throwing urine in a correction officer’s face and another threatening to kill one of New York’s boldest, a correction source told The Post.

Alleged Trinitario gang member Danel Fernandez, 21, filled a cup with his own urine and threw it in a female correction officer’s face at the George R. Vierno Center on Rikers Island on Wednesday afternoon, the source said.

The urine splashed in the officer’s face and hair, according to the source.

The other incident happened on Tuesday, when Jose Muniz, 21, threatened to kill another correction officer.

The correction source said the gang members cannot be transferred into solitary confinement because they are both 21 years old. Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration oversaw a change in policy that ended solitary confinement for inmates 21 and younger in 2015.

Elias Husamudeen, the president of the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association, called on the mayor to protect officers from the gang members suspected in Junior’s murder.

“These guys have already proven that they are going to do the same thing in jail that they were doing when they were on the streets,” Husamudeen told The Post. “We need the capability to lock them down. These people need to be kept away from correction officers as well as other inmates.”
