There’s a Knicks battle and bet over the World Cup final

LAS VEGAS — It’s France vs. Croatia on Sunday. And Frank Ntilikina vs. Mario Hezonja.

Ntilikina told The Post he plans to make a wager with his new Croatian teammate on Sunday’s World Cup final. If they are still in Las Vegas, they plan to watch the game together.

“We discussed it, I think we are going to make a bet, but it won’t be money — something else,” Ntilikina said. “We always discuss with each other. We’re excited and want to watch the game together.”

Ntilikina watched the Knicks-Celtics summer-league game Thursday, sitting out his second straight game with a groin injury. But he said it’s possible he will return for the next game — either Friday or Saturday, pending whether they fall into the losers bracket.

It’s conceivable the Knicks could be playing Sunday during the World Cup.

“I’d still rather be playing,” Ntilikina said. “I’m a basketball player.”

But soccer is his favorite hobby, and in April, he met a couple of members of the French National Team while training in Paris’ sports academy.

“I was never on a team, but soccer is the sport we play with friends,” Ntilikina said. “No prediction because Croatia is a very tough team and in the finals, anything can happen.”

Ntilikina was born in Belgium before moving to Strasbourg and was proud to see both countries meet up in the quarterfinals.

“I was born there, but I feel more French than Belgian,” Ntilikina said.

The 19-year-old point guard said his injury is almost healed.

“I feel better — I’ll see if I can play the next game,” Ntilikina said.

Knicks president Steve Mills made contact with Kyle O’Quinn regarding his remark that he left for Indiana because he “wanted to play for more than next year’s draft.” O’Quinn told Mills it came out wrong, according to a source.
