Mayor Bill de Blasio is promising a big bash if Staten Island’s Little League team wins the championship.
“If they go all the way, we’re doing a big, big ceremony for them — we’ll figure out what it is, but this would be a historic moment for New York City to see one of our teams win the Little League World Series,” the mayor said at an unrelated press conference in Brooklyn.
“So I am hoping and praying we get to that point, but we’ll have a big old party for them.”
The Mid-Island squad is one win away from the finals of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The team’s next game is against Honolulu Wednesday night.
