A Stanford White-designed home — once owned by Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos and his shoe-loving wife Imelda — is going into pre-foreclosure auction with a $2.1 million opening bid.
Maltz Auctions is conducting the auction on Sept. 13. The mansion at 16 Sedgemere Road in Center Moriches, in Suffolk County, was first listed for $5.99 million and was appraised at $4.4 million last year.
Marcos — a kleptocrat who ruled from 1965 to 1986, and imposed martial law from 1972 to 1981 — owned the Long Island home from 1981 to 1987.
It was known as his summer house, according to the auction house.
The Marcoses’ former waterfront estate sits on 8.2 acres and could be transformed into a bed and breakfast with “restaurant potential,” according to the listing.
The 10,000-square-foot main house features 14 bedrooms and 16½ bathrooms.
There’s also a 1,500-square-foot glass pool house, a pool, a tennis court, a carriage house and views of Moriches Bay.
