The 15-year-old girl who bolted from a police cruiser was back in custody Tuesday, cops confirmed.
The teen, whose name was not released because she is a minor, was picked up by the Regional Fugitive Task Force around 9:30 a.m., according to police.
Cops say the teen had made arrangements through Facebook Marketplace to purchase a phone. She met up with the vendor Monday evening at East 172nd Street and Sheridan Avenue Monday, along with a man who she claimed was her cousin, cops said.
The seller handed the teen a cellphone, which she then gave to her accomplice — who took off running, police said.
The victim then held onto the teen and called police, who took her into custody.
While inside the police car — which was stopped at a red light — the teen made a run for it around 8:30 p.m., cops said.
The squad’s door apparently was not properly closed and the lock did not latch, sources told CBS New York.
Charges against the teen are pending. Her accomplice in the alleged phone theft remains at large.
