A pair of thieves is targeting the Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District, snatching debit cards and IDs from unlocked rooms — as guests sleep soundly in bed, cops said Thursday.
The first incident happened at the luxe hotel just before 2 a.m. Oct. 2, when the duo stole two IDs and a debit card from a Canadian guest who was snoozing when they entered, police said.
The victim woke up during the burglary, but apparently thought the men were hotel staff — and went back to dreamland, police said.
When the Canuck awoke the next morning, he realized he’d been robbed, cops said.
Twelve days later, the same pair of crooks hit up the four-star hipster haunt at 2:30 p.m., again entering an “unsecured” room, police said.
That victim, who was also asleep in the room at the time, left his wallet on the table — and when he woke up, found his debit card and $30 in cash missing, cops said.
The first suspect is described as a black male with a beard, last seen wearing a dark baseball hat and dark sweatpants.
The second suspect is also described as a black male, last seen wearing a white New York Giants baseball hat and a blue Gap sweatshirt.
A spokesperson for the hotel said they’re working with the police as they investigate, and that guest safety “is always our primary concern.”
