Seton Hall lands a familiar type of recruit

Seton Hall is on the recruiting board for 2019, and it’s the kind of player it has rebuilt its program with: An overlooked guard from New York City.

Three-star prospect Dashawn Davis of The Bronx announced his commitment to coach Kevin Willard and the Pirates Monday night, continuing the trend of Willard landing city kids. This year’s team features two Harlem natives in point guard Anthony Nelson and forward Taurean Thompson, and the core of the team that led Seton Hall to NCAA Tournament bids the last three years was mostly from the city as well.

The 6-foot-3 Davis, from Our Savior Lutheran School in The Bronx, picked Seton Hall over Old Dominion and St. John’s, though the Red Storm never offered him a scholarship, according to a source. He also held offers from the likes of Saint Louis, Manhattan and La Salle.
