A Danish soccer player survived a murder attempt after reportedly being shot on Christmas Day.
Nicki Bille, who last played for Lyngby Boldklub in Denmark, had a shotgun fired at him in a fight with three people at his home in Copenhagen.
Local media report Bille, 30, was shot in the forearm in the incident but managed to escape the scene without serious injuries.
Police spokesman Aaron Newmann told Ekstra Bladet: “We have had the chance to talk to the victim but obviously, I cannot reveal any more about the investigation.”
A 23-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man have been arrested and are being held in custody while police continue to search for a third suspect, who is said to have fled the scene.
Both of those arrested are believed to have claimed their innocence, but reports say they will face charges of attempted murder.
If found guilty they could face up to six years in prison.
Bille, who has played for Villareal, Rayo Vallecano and Elche in Spain, was jailed for a month in June for hitting a woman he claimed was trying to strangle his wife.
He was arrested four years ago while playing at Rosenborg for beating up a police officer and resisting arrest.
Bille has represented the Danish national team three times and scored one goal.
