Four young thieves are wanted for robbing of fruit stands throughout Manhattan — and roughing up workers who tried to stop them, police said Sunday.
The crooks, all thought to be in their teens, hit four stands between Dec. 7 and Dec. 15, swiping about $750 in total, according to cops.
Two of the fruit-stand looters kicked off the spree at around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 7, plucking $415 cash from a vendor’s pocket on Third Avenue near East 37th Street, officials said.
When the peach-peddler tried to chase the duo, one of the hooligans tripped him, authorities said.
The crew laid low until 6:25 p.m. on Dec. 14, when one dipped into a vendor’s pocket on East 96th Street near Third Avenue and split with about $150 in produce proceeds, police said.
The next day, the crooks robbed two stands in less than 30 minutes.
The thieves teamed up to steal $95 from a vendor on the corner of East 86th Street and York Avenue at around 8:05 p.m., Dec. 15, according to cops.
Just 25 minutes later, three of them accosted a produce salesman at East 97th Street and Second Avenue, holding his arm back as they rifled through his pockets and grabbed $98, authorities said.
