Mayor Bill de Blasio has found another excuse to justify his persistent out-of-town travel: spreading the “gospel” of his latest accomplishments.
After announcing two progressive proposals this week — expanded health care for the uninsured and mandatory paid time off in the private sector — Hizzoner said he needs to hit the road to tell America about them.
“I will definitely be going around the country talking about ideas like paid personal time,” he said during a press conference at City Hall. “This is a national crisis . . . I know what we do here will have a huge impact on the rest of the country and I am going to go out and preach the gospel.”
The mayor wouldn’t rule out a trip to Iowa — which would be his fourth visit to the politically pivotal state in five years.
De Blasio’s previous jaunts have taken him to the West Coast to seek investment from tech companies, Germany for climate change and around the country to stump for Democrats.
