A wayward hawk ventured into a busy Brooklyn intersection on Wednesday night — and narrowly missed passing cars before NYPD cops wrangled it into a cage, according to a witness and video of the scene.
A crowd of about a hundred spectators formed on the sidewalk near the three-way intersection of Lorimer, Lee and Wallabout Streets in Williamsburg at about 6 p.m., witness Francisco Paez, 36, said.
The hawk tried to fly off the street, but couldn’t get off the ground, he added.
“It seemed like it was sick,” Paez said.
“It was just kind of scary that it was in the middle of the street and cars were going by,” he added. “I was afraid it was going to run over by a car.”
To protect it from the passing cars, Paez said he threw his coat over the animal and pushed it off to the side of the road.
NYPD cops responded and were able to corral it into a cage, video of the rescue shows.
