The third victim in the hammer attack at a Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn has died, police sources said Thursday.
Tsz Mat Pun, 50, the manager at Sheepshead Bay’s Seaport Buffet — where the rampage occurred — succumbed to the injuries he suffered during the bloody Jan. 15 attack on Thursday morning, sources said.
Pun died at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.
“Our thoughts go out to the family,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said at a press conference Thursday, adding that the suspect, Arthur Martunovich, will likely face additional charges in the case.
“We’re working closely with the Brooklyn DA on that,” Shea said. “That is…anticipated, that the charges will be upgraded.”
Martunovich, 34, a Brooklyn resident, is accused of carrying out the random hammer-swinging attack — which he told cops was inspired by a movie about Chinese men mistreating women — at around 5 p.m. before horrified diners.
Chef Fufai Pun, 34, was killed during the incident and 60-year-old owner Kheong Ng-Thang died from his injuries at NYU Langone last Friday.
Martunovich, a construction worker with no criminal record, was charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon for the crazed rampage.
He remains in custody under psychiatric evaluation and was recently transferred from Kings County Hospital to Bellevue Hospital Center, sources said.
A grand jury is weighing additional charges against Martunovich, according to sources.
