Two people were killed on Sunday morning when their out-of-control car crash into a tree and a light pole in Queens, police said.
The men — 28-year-old Joseph Pellot and his passenger — were heading east on South Conduit Avenue near 134th Street in South Ozone Park around 3:30 a.m. when Pellot lost control of the 2006 Dodge Caravan, according to authorities.
The minivan, which police said was speeding, flipped over as it careened into the tree and light pole before coming to a stop.
No one else was in the car at the time, and no other cars were involved.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still working to identify the passenger.
A woman who identified herself as Pellot’s mother said he was “the greatest kid in the world.”
“He would always make you laugh. He was outgoing,” said the grieving mom, who would only give her name as Cookie.
“My son didn’t do drugs at all,” she said. “He didn’t even drink beer.”
