Man arrested for identity theft looked nothing like victim: cops

A Tennesee man was busted for identity theft after he made it “plainly obvious” that he bore no resemblance to the alleged victim.

Police said they arrested Julian R. Mitchell, 20, of Nashville, Tennessee, after he tried to use a stolen debit card at a bar on Thursday.

When the bar’s system notified them that the card was lost or stolen, staff asked Mitchell to see his driver’s license, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox 17.

The height and photo on the driver’s license Mitchell presented made it “plainly obvious” it was not him, according to the affidavit. It was not clear if Mitchell was taller or shorter than the alleged victim.

Mitchell denied using the driver’s license, but a search uncovered the victim’s wallet and other belongings in Mitchell’s fanny pack, Metro police said.

Mitchell was booked into Davidson County Jail where he is being held on $25,000 bond, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
