College football players arrested after ‘The Purge’ brawl

Three college football players in New Hampshire were arrested following a “Purge”-style riot at a fraternity party, according to reports.

Charges were filed Friday against the University of New Hampshire athletes in connection to a brawl which reportedly involved masks from “The Purge” movie, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.

The suspects were identified as linebackers Quinlan Dean and Kyle Hamper, along with running back Jackson Housman.

Dean, 21, Hamper, 20, and Housman, 20, each face felony riot charges stemming from the incident at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house in Durham.

The trio was suspended from the football team following the brawl, which sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries, according to authorities.

Police said the players became involved in the fight Jan. 26 after the frat kicked one of them out of the party.

“What we have learned is that there was a party at the fraternity and one man had been asked to leave,” Durham Deputy Police Chief Rene Kelley told Foster’s Daily Democrat.

“He apparently returned with a large group of people. They forced their way into the house and engaged in a fight with some of the brothers from the fraternity. There were some assaults.”

Kelley wouldn’t comment on reports that the players involved in the brawl wore masks from “The Purge” movie.

Authorities said they’re reviewing footage of the incident and it’s still under investigation.

The trio is set to appear Feb. 14 at Strafford County Superior Court.

If convicted, they each face up to seven years in prison.
