HBO’s ‘Case Against Adnan Syed’ trailer teases new evidence in ‘Serial’ case

The “Serial” saga continues with HBO’s chilling new trailer for “The Case Against Adnan Syed.”

The four-part docu-series — set to air this spring — promises a “new chapter” in the murder case made famous five years ago by Sarah Koenig’s blockbuster true crime podcast and spinoff series.

“I know there are things that don’t look good for me,” Syed, now 38, says in the trailer.

However, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg (“Deliver Us From Evil”) teases critical new details in the investigation 18-year-old Hae Min Lee’s murder by strangulation in 1999, and the subsequent conviction of her ex-boyfriend.

“The Case Against Adnan Syed” will take a deep dive back into the evidence introduced by Koenig in “Serial” — but the new promo claims “a piece of evidence that no one even know existed all these years” could challenge the prosecution’s case against Syed at his upcoming retrial.

Syed has maintained his not guilty plea in the murder, for which was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years.

The series also will feature interviews with Syed, as well as his friends, family and former teachers, many of whom believe he was wrongfully convicted and want to “get to the truth.”
