Iman Shumpert, Otto Porter moved ahead of NBA trade deadline

The NBA trade market is in high gear ahead of Thursday’s 3 p.m. cutoff.

Wednesday saw a number of notable names move to new teams, with former Knicks guard Iman Shumpert going from the Kings to the Rockets as part of a three-way deal that involved the Cavaliers, according to ESPN

In exchange for the 28-year-old Shumpert, Sacramento picked up Alec Burks and a second-round pick while Cleveland got Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss and a first-rounder.

The Cavaliers also sent recently acquired Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin to the Rockets, players they got in a deal with Portland for Rodney Hood.

Sacramento wasn’t done, however, adding Harrison Barnes from the Mavericks, dealing Justin Jackson and Zach Randolph to Dallas, according to The Athletic. The deal was announced while Barnes was on the court playing against the Hornets.

The Bulls and Wizards swapped a trio of former first-rounders, with Otto Porter Jr. soon to be sporting a Chicago jersey while Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker are D.C. bound, along with a 2023 second-round pick.

Washington also agreed to trade Markieff Morris to New Orleans for Wesley Johnson. There also will be draft considerations in the deal.

Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington went from the Heat to the Suns in an afternoon trade that saw Ryan Anderson headed to Miami.

Multiple reports said the NBA-leading Bucks were sending center Thon Maker to the Pistons for forward Stanley Johnson.

Both were lottery picks, Johnson in 2015 and Maker a year later. That trade was also pending the NBA reviewing and approving the financial terms, which is required for any deal to become final.

The Bucks added Johnson in an attempt to bolster their perimeter defense in a wide-open Eastern Conference.

Despite all of the wheeling-and-dealing, all eyes still remain on New Orleans, where the Pelicans were still considering their options regarding All-Star center Anthony Davis.
