Manhattan couple foils robbery attempt inside their apartment, suspect at large
A Manhattan couple thwarted a robbery attempt inside their own apartment when they caught the bungling burglar in the act, cops said on Wednesday.
The couple was inside their Gramercy pad at about 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 23 when they discovered a stranger inside the apartment attempting to lift their valuables, according to police.
The suspect allegedly sneaked in the apartment through a fire escape. Once detected, he fled the scene empty-handed, cops said.
Police released surveillance video that shows the suspect leaving the apartment building.
He was described as being between 17 and 25 years old, and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with fur trim and the number 8 on it.
